Horses train you for life
Ever since childhood days, we have been fascinated by horses. A horse’s sensitivity and honesty are hard to comprehend – which is why we are all the more thankful for the experience. Most people are either born with the horse virus or are immune, but you never can tell. If you have caught it, you tend to be infected a life long.
Literature on the subject often describes the absolute harmony between horse and rider, but you rarely read or indeed understand about how to get to that stage. Horses expect clear behaviour, honesty, patience, endurance and fairness from us. It is therefore hardly surprising that they don’t take too kindly to having to bear the brunt of our moods. And why should they? Horses cannot be bribed in the long term. A treat may work wonders briefly, but each individual has to work steadily to gain trust for developing an everyday relationship and living together in harmony. Horses give us free rein, but only after they have spent some time watching and deciding whether it is worth going through thick and thin with us. Generally, however, horses take everyone at face value, regardless of title or bank account, gauging the person alone. When working with horses, riding is in itself a reward for us that always gives us incredible pleasure. It means getting exercise out in the fresh air, for example seeing the first leaves unfurling on the trees in spring, enjoying balmy summer evenings in the countryside, marvelling at the autumn colours in the woods or galloping through powder snow...
And our philosophy of life is to pass this enthusiasm on to others.
Our cuddly animals
The Pilsachhof is also home to our two donkeys, Klara and Luna, Imelda, the cuddly sheep, and lots of cats, hens and rabbits. Our animals are all very well trained and Klara has even mastered some circus tricks. The Pilsachhof with all its animals is paradise for children who are also welcome to help us feed and care for them. |
